With Catholics Like Vice President Joe Biden, the Church Doesn’t Need Enemies

Last night’s Vice Presidential debate was memorable for many odd reasons like interruptions and laughing but, it was also memorable for the stark difference between two Catholics.  One who defended his Church from the assault of the other and one who denied he had assaulted his Church to the other.

In defense of his Catholic Church from the assaults of Obama and Biden, Paul Ryan said:

“Look at what they’re doing through ObamaCare with respect to assaulting the religious liberties of this country. They’re infringing upon our first freedom, the freedom of religion by infringing on Catholic Charities, Catholic churches, Catholic hospitals. Our church should not have to sue our federal government to maintain their religious liberties.”

Denying his role on the assault on his Catholic Church, Joe Biden said:

“With regard to the assault on the Catholic Church, let me make it absolutely clear. No religious institution Catholic or otherwise… none has to either refer contraception, none has to pay for contraception, none has to be a vehicle to get contraception in any insurance policy they provide. That is a fact. That is a fact.”

Ryan came back with:

“If they agree with you then why would they keep suing you?”

Vice President Biden’s statement above is blatant and disturbing false witness.  The Pope knows it, the bishops know it, the laity know it and worst of all he knows it.  He is willingly being an accessory to sin.

Pray that the Holy Spirit will breath the desire to speak the truth into Vice President Biden.

O Holy Spirit, strengthen us to defend all that is holy.

Ryan said that they were for abortion, if it was rape, incest, or health of the mother, i find that troubling

I’m waiting for the response from the church. It’s now or never to clear this up. He needs to be exposed now as a liar and enemy to the church.

  3. Well said. I personally was embarrassed for MrBiden and his lack of moral character. May he know through the Holy Spirit what he has really said and done and repent soon. Mr Ryan remained, as I thought he would, steadfast and true to his/our faith. Thank you Mr. Ryan, may God bless you on your journey.

  4. I worry for our Church, because it does not have the nerve to do the right thing. Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi and all those other “nominal Catholics” who blatantly go contrary to the Church’s teachings, and lead other less educated Catholics astray with their demonic liberal ideas need to be excommunicated, and should not be forgiven in Penance until they publicly renounce their evil positions.

Loretta: As much as I totally objected to Biden’s comments I was also troubled by Ryan’s stated exceptions for rape, incest, or health of the mother. That is not Catholic doctine. Abortion is homicide. Period.
I also wonder when the Church authorities will take a stand and personally call out public figures who scandalize the faithful and outside observers with their carefully parsed and emotionally charged heresies.

  6. Joe Biden has the liberty to say whatever he wishes because no one in Church authority ever told him he would be excommunicated . The fault is the Church’s, not Biden’s.

  7. Kevin Richardson

Joe Biden is as much an enemy of the Church as he is of the Constitution. Both disqualify him from rightly exercising his office, one will consign him to hell at his own arrogant insistence.

  8. Loretta & Michael, no candidate is perfect when it comes to our Catholic teachings on Life, that’s why it is prudent for us to further research how helpful or hurtful they plan to be to the life cause. Frankly, knowing Obama’s record and his blatant approval of abortion (including partial birth abortion) I don’t know why anyone would pick Obama over Romney on this issue.

  9. Michael Langlois

Jim: Don’t be concerned. I am 100% for Romney and Ryan and am doing everything in my power to get them elected. That includes letters to the editor, forwarding videos and emails, bumper stickers, money contributions, suggestions to the Romney campaign. I hope my revealing my activities will inspire others to do likewise.

  10. Biden’s entire debate “performance” was shameful and unbecoming of his office. See Dr. Donald DeMarco’s commentary here: http://www.truthandcharityforum.org/more-than-a-debate/
