Romney Promotes God and Four Catholic Themes in the First Presidential Debate; Obama Silent

During Wednesday night’s (last night) debate between President Obama and Governor Romney, only Governor Mitt Romney acknowledged God as our Creator and promoted four Catholic themes by promising to:

  1. Protect life
  2. Care for the poor
  3. Defend religious freedom and
  4. Stop the growth of an immoral debt

Governor Romney’s promise to protect these themes infers a promise to practice the Catholic principles of human dignity and subsidiarity (The principle of subsidiarity is defined as:  A community of a higher order should not interfere in the internal life of a community of a lower order.)

President Obama was silent on God and silent on Catholic themes in the debate.
